Description

Immersed in the verdant countryside around the noble town of Montepulciano, that boasts ancient Etruscan origins, Le Caggiole Estate is perfectly located for exploring Tuscany’s most prized treasures such as Siena (55 km), Cortona (30 Km), and Florence (110 Km).

Le Caggiole Estate is a working farm where you will enjoy the atmosphere of the Tuscan farming tradition and the peace and the tranquillity of a gorgeous countryside rich of century-old holm-oak and oak trees, olive groves and vineyards. Here live the Martinelli Family, who will be pleased to welcome their guests at their holiday farm.

In a relaxing and cosy atmosphere, where the rhythms of daily life are marked by the passing of seasons, guests are offered:
- Three comfortable, quiet double rooms with private bathrooms;
- Two comfortable apartments for two persons and for small family groups;
- delicious meals prepared according to the best Tuscan cooking tradition;
- The farm products: wine, oil, honey, jam, saffron
- A large and immaculate garden with mature holm oaks and century-old oaks. Last, but not least…
The friendly and attentive owners, Giacomo, his mother Ornella, and his father Mario, with their stories about old past times, are pleased to spend pleasant hours with their guests next to fireplace in wintertime, or in the garden, in summertime, where the moonlight pierces the rich crowns of the holm oaks.

Accommodation
The Martinelli family, repositories of an ancient farming tradition, have taken a great care over every details: the farmhouse and its annexes have been fully restored, rooms are carefully decorated with laces and furnished with antiques, in the garden there is plenty of colourful flowers and plants.
The main farmhouse, where the Martinellis have been living for generations, is now divided into three comfortable double rooms and two comfortable apartments, named after the old craft activities that were formerly carried out in the farm and the use the buildings were intended for:

› on the second floor: Room Lo Stalliere (The Stableman), ,
In the annexe “Vecchio forno e cucinone” (Old Oven and Kitchen) next to the main farmhouse: Room La Nicchia (The Shell) and Apartment La Massaia (The country housewife).

One of the most attractive features at Agriturismo Le Caggiole is Food: mamma Ornella spends much of her time cooking. Inspired by her great passion and her undeniable ability, she prepares delightful dishes for her guests, who can taste the traditional flavours of the Tuscan cooking art. The lessons at the Cooking School by mamma Ornella are an unfergettable experience: in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere guests are taught how to prepare simple and quick meals that can be prepared every day at home.

Farm products
In the estate there are 1200 olive trees that produce around 12000kg of olives every year. The olives are pressed in local traditional mills to obtain the precious Extra-virgin Olive Oil IGP, available for tasting and purchase directly at the farm. Moreover, the estate consists of 1.5hectares of vineyards where the Martinellis produce the famous “Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG”. They also produce plums (100 trees), cherries (5 trees), peaches (5 trees), walnuts (10 trees), saffron, and vegetables from the family orchard. Man’s hard work in the fields and nature’s generosity produce wonderful fruits that mamma Ornella transforms into fine-quality fruit jams, available for tasting and purchase directly at the farm shop.
18 beehives, finally, produce a delicious and healthy Honey, available for tasting and purchase directly at the farm.

Spa Wellness in Chianciano Terme
Le Caggiole Estate is 7km to Chianciano Terme and its Spa Wellness Centre, where they have recently open a new attraction: Terme Sensoriali. In the heart of the Spa park of Acqua Santa, Terme Sensoriale is the only project in Italy based on Naturopathy: here guests can experiment a suggestive sensorial itinerary to rebalance their human magnetic field though the harmonization of the 5 elements - Water, Fire, Earth, Air, and Space – which man and universe are made of.
Besides Terme Sensoriali, Chianciano offers thermal water treatments for liver diseases and articular pains.

HOW TO REACH US:
Coming from Pise-Florence:

- Drive along the motorway A1 called Autostrada del Sole in direction to Rome;
- Exit motorway at Valdichiana-Bettolle-Sinalunga and follow signs to Pienza/Montepulciano;
- Continue a further 30 mt to a roundabout and take the third exit signposted SS326 in direction to Torrita di Siena/Montepulciano.
- Proceed for 6 Km until Torrita di Siena and take Via Lauretana Sud /SS326 in direction to Montepulciano;
- Continue for a further 6 Km along this road, pass by the village of Gracciano, and follow straight for Montepulciano;
- You will find the entrance to “Agriturismo Le Caggiole” 700 mt on the left. Welcome!

Coming from Rome:
- Drive along the motorway A1 called Autostrada del Sole in direction to Florence:
- Exit motorway at Chiusi-Chianciano and follow straight for Chianciano (SS n 146):
- Pass by Chianciano and continue for Sant’Albino Monetpulciano along the same road SS 146;
- Pass by Montepulciano following signposts for Torrita di Siena and drive along Strada Provinciale di Montepulciano SP17;

AGRITURISMO LE CAGGIOLE: Food

One of the most attractive features at Agriturismo Le Caggiole is Food: mamma Ornella spends much of her time cooking. Inspired by her great passion and her undeniable ability, she prepares delightful dishes for her guests, who can taste the traditional flavours of the Tuscan cooking art. The lessons at the Cooking School by mamma Ornella are an unfergettable experience: in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere guests are taught how to prepare simple and quick meals that can be prepared every day at home.

Breakfast: In wintertime breakfast is served in the large dining room, with the sweet aroma of fresh coffee and cakes prepared by mamma Ornella. In summertime breakfast is served on the lovely terrace, enjoying the birds singing from the ancient holm-oak trees. (Continental Breakfast).

Dinners: Delicious dinners prepared according to the best Tuscan tradition by mamma Ornella, who – with her magic touch - transforms the simple products of the farm into delightful dishes. Hand-made pasta, Chianina meat (the farm is located in a region of traditional cattle rearing activities), game, and for vegetarians lots of fresh and cooked vegetables.

COOKING SCHOOL
The Cooking School by “Mamma Ornella” is inspired by the great passion of the Martinelli Family for cooking and for traditional flavours. They offer courses at different levels: from basic to specialization courses for all those who want to learn the secrets of cooking, but also for those who want to spend three pleasant hours in a nice and friendly atmosphere. During the lessons guests will be taught cooking methods, but they will be also allowed to exchange experiences, comments, and questions. At the end of the lesson they will taste the food they have prepared. Courses can vary from a minimum commitment of a just one lesson, to a whole week of full immersion where each day is devoted to starters, first courses, second courses, side-dishes, dessert.
